CALM and SAFE to Increase Presence in the Security Industry with new offer to Physical Intervention Trainers
In a bold move that could re-shape physical intervention training in the security industry, CALM and SAFE have announced that trainers transferring to the CALM/SAFE physical intervention programme during the remainder of 2010, will benefit from a royalty free agreement to use CALM/SAFE training materials for a six month period. Unlike many physical intervention learning material providers, CALM and SAFE do not charge a candidate fee for each person undergoing the training, but an annual license fee for the use of the materials. According to Raymond Clarke, managing Director of SAFE, ‘Providers only need to train 20 or so people over the course of the year, and the CALM/SAFE approach would significantly reduce costs. With the possible surge in uptake if the SIA decide that existing door supervisors should undertake physical intervention training, and the tremendous reputation enjoyed by CALM in the field of physical intervention training internationally, we believe that the approach will be highly attractive to providers. CALM/SAFE materials can be used with the SAFE learning materials covering other aspects of the door supervisors programme, or with materials provided by third parties. To address the SIA requirement that materials providers ensure that door supervision trainers are trained in the physical intervention techniques they are training, CALM/SAFE provide a 3 day skills development programme for those trainers who have undergone level 3 trainer training with other providers. The cost of the programme is £450 plus VAT but includes the six months royalty free license offer. For further details please contact Laura Jackson on 01952 585387.
